The Great County Adit Allen Buckley. [out of print] |
|
"The great Gwennap adit is the most extensive, valuable, and systematic undertaking of the kind in Cornwall -- perhaps in England, and we believe but few in the world exceed it in importance." (Mining Journal, May 6th 1843) "The County Adit ... is one of the most extensive in the kingdom ... a work of national importance ... construction is a monumental achievement of grit and perseverance ..." (Western Morning News, January 18th 1924) It was, undoubtedly, the most significant piece of engineering in the long history of Cornish Mining. This book is the result of nearly 20 years of research into the original records, many of which are not in the public domain. The book has some 144 pages, has over 40 maps, photographs, sections and other drawings, and has hitherto unused archival material - including the County Adit Cost Books. |
B&W photos and illustrations. 144 pages. Softback.
